At One Running, our passion lies in both running and fostering a sense of community. That’s why we were beyond excited when presented with the opportunity to sponsor the apparel for the 2023 Metropolitan Fire Service Road Awareness Run.

This incredible charity event brought together a team of MFS firefighters who embarked on a challenging journey from Melbourne to Adelaide. Their mission? To raise crucial funds and awareness for the Australian Professional Firefighters Foundation, supporting recovery programs for firefighters, their families, and those affected by fire and road trauma.

The event kickstarted on November 6th at the Derrimut Fire Station in Melbourne. Twelve firefighters geared up in our Victory Speed range, initiating a 740 km relay-style run. Each firefighter took on legs of 1 or 2 km before passing the baton to the next runner, while the support vehicle closely followed for recovery breaks. But these firefighters didn’t just aim to cover the distance; they aimed to break a 30-year-old record set in 1993.

The previous record of 48 hours and 25 minutes was a significant challenge. Yet, the MFS firefighters exceeded all expectations, completing the 740 km in an astonishing 47 hours and 29 minutes. That’s an average pace of 3 minutes and 51 seconds per kilometer—an extraordinary testament to human endurance. Their achievement goes beyond setting a new record; it’s a symbol of unity, resilience, and unwavering determination. It showcases what’s possible when individuals unite for a greater cause. Moreover, they raised an incredible $21,000 for the Australian Professional Firefighters Foundation, far surpassing the initial goal of $10,000.
